When you”re learning to write, plotting can be one of the hardest thing to master. In fact, many of my students say plotting is what they most want to learn: how to finish the pieces they”ve started, or maybe get going on ideas they haven”t even been able to start yet. But while it can seem daunting, learning how to play with plot can become one of the most rewarding aspects of writing fiction. This workshop aims to show you playroost.com how you can do that.
Over the course of the day, we will look at a range of ways for making plots, from seat-of-the-pants intuition, to all-out planning. We will also look at many different ways for getting the first idea for a plot, and then some exercises for how to develop them. If you thought there was only one way to do it, you”ll learn a whole lot more. And we”ll explore how you can fix plots that are stuck, broken, or have lost their way. Throughout, my focus will be on practical exercises, where you get to experience directly the many ways that plot can work for you.
So, whether you”re writing flash fiction or an epic novel, I think I can promise that you”ll learn some useful stuff. I hope you”ll come along.
