Finding Your Voices: a poetry workshop

Winchester Discovery Centre, Saturday 22nd March

10am – 4pm, £25 (£22.50 concessions)

‘Voice’ is something that poets can worry about a lot. Do you need one? If so, what is it? How can you find it? How do you know when you have found it? Will the one you find be any good?… And so on!

This workshop aims to answer all those questions, by helping you think about voice in flexible, creative ways. You’ll go beyond the idea of having just one voice, by exploring how you can use a wide range of voices in your poetry. As well as considering what ‘voice’ is and how it’s made, you will boost your confidence by learning how to create voices you’ve never used before, how to make your poems fresher and stronger by choosing the right voice each time, and what the elements of your preferred ‘voice’ might be, if you want one! By the end, instead of voice being something to worry about, you will see how it can be an invigorating tool to expand and enrich your poetry.

This workshop will be perfectly suitable for all levels, but may be of particular use to those who’ve been writing for a while (though not necessarily writing poetry).
