Brian Evans-Jones was born in Britain and has lived in Maine, USA, since 2014.

He was Poet Laureate of Hampshire, England, for 2012-13, and in 2017 he won the Maureen Egen Writers Exchange Award from Poets & Writers. His poetry has also been shortlisted for the Bridport Prize.

He holds a BA in Literature and Creative Writing from Warwick University, England, and an MFA in Writing from the University of New Hampshire. His poems have appeared in Café Review, Stoneboat, Outlook Springs,  and other magazines, and have been featured in multiple art installations and events.

Brian has taught creative writing since 2005, teaching poetry, fiction, and non-fiction to hundreds of students from elementary school age to over 90.

He has run courses, classes, and workshops for adults at three colleges, in historic houses in Britain and New England, in libraries, arts centers, writers’ groups, a prison, and a bookshop.

Brian is a juried Teaching Artist in both Maine and New Hampshire, and has led more than 50 school residencies and workshops.
